Dear all,


be reminded to collect your Job Week Cards latest by this Friday (13 Mar 09), 1.30pm at the Scout Den.

Please adhere to the following instructions.

1. All Scouts are to report to the Scout Den this Sat 14 Mar 09 by 8.30am.

2. Your respective sec 4s Patrol Leaders will take charge of you in the absence of the sec 3s. You are required to perform 4 days of Job Week (14 to 17 Mar) from 9am to 6 pm.

3. Attire for Job Week - Scout Uniform (no beret needed) with comfortable sports shoes. Bring along PE Tees & shorts and a piece of rag.

4. Use the cards from the smallest card number.Use only Black or Blue BALL POINT PEN. Cheap ball point pen like “RED LEAF” brand is recommended.

5. The cards issued to you are NOT TRANSFERABLE. DO not exchange cards with your fellow scouts. All TRANSFER CAN ONLY BE DONE WITH THE CONSENT OF THE SCOUT LEADER. If you’re sick and cannot perform Job Week, please inform your Patrol Leader.

6. The Job Done "Stickers" are strictly to be given to household when a JOB IS DONE. Do not trade the stickers for $ contribution. (Each is given about 40 "stickers" only !)

7. DO NOT hand your daily earning to any Scouts to submit on your behalf. If you cannot make it back in the evening, you must come personally the next morning at 9 am to submit the previous day’s earning. All Job Week Cards issued (used and unused) and $$ must be handed up by the last day of Job Week 7.30pm

Results for 6th National Patrol Camp

Dear all,

I'm pleased to announce that the Patrol comprising Shu Liang, Wee Loong, Bryan, Zen, Chan An, Yong Jia, Isaac and Francis (reserves - Kah Fong, Ivan, Zong Ren) has achieved the GOLD Merit in the recently concluded 6th National Patrol Camp.

We were ranked overall 3rd amongst the 60 Patrols from the different schools. Catholic High School was the overall champion and claimed the Best Patrol Title along with the Chief Commissioner's Challenge Shield. Dunman High School was ranked 2nd. Only 10 schools were awarded the Gold Merit.

Let's congratulate the our Scouts for achieving such good result. This Gold Merit is our 5th consecutive Gold. No other Schools has achieved this except Catholic High School.

I would like to thank the following.
- all parents, especially Mr Chia (Isaac's father) for the various support given to our Scouts.
- the Support Team comprising Guo Qiang, Janus, Gerard, Sherman and many more sec 1s, 2s and 3s who have given their time to support the team's training.
- our Adult Leaders Kai Urn and Kwok Chin for their time
- Jordan, Shervin, Changda, Xiu Qi, Sean, Zhi Cong who have acted as Trainers.

1. PLTC briefing for all sec 2s and 3s will be held this Sat from 2 to 3.30pm. Attendance is complusory.

2. For all (esp. sec 1s) who have purchased new Group Polo and Roundneck t-shirts, you are to stitch your name initial on the "size tag" For example, if your name is Chun Kit then stich a simple "CK". We do not want confusion during scout meeting!

3. Remind your parents or maid not to use bleaching solution for the Group Polo. The Emblem will be "decolorised" and you will have to purchase another shirt.

Donation Draw & PLTC

Dear all,

SSA Donation Draw Tickets (DDT) are now ready for collection. Your PLs will be distributing them to you this Sat (31/5). If you are not able to attend this Sat Scout meeting for a valid reason (like overseas), do email your respective PLs. You must make arrangement to collect the DDT books asap when you return from overseas or at the next Scout meeting.

The distribution table is attached for your reference. Essentially, if you have attained $300 or more for Job Week 2008, you will be given 8 DDT books (sec 1 & 2), 9 DDT books (sec 3s) and 4 DDT books (sec 4s). Each book contains 5 $2 tickets.

However, if you earned less than $300 for the Job Week 2008, you will be given additional books accordingly.

For those who did not take part in Job Week 2008, you will be given 8 additional books.
For those who earn between $0 and $100, you will be given 4 additional books.
For those who earn between $100 and $200, you will be given 3 additional books.
For those who earn between $200 and $300, you will be given 2 additional books.
For sec 4s who earn less than $300, you will be given 1 additional book.

* To qualify for Squirrel Badge Award - 16 books

Dear all,

There will be NO SCOUT MEETING this Sat, 15 Mar 2008. Meeting will resume on the 22 Mar 2008.

You guys deserve a break from Scouting after 4 days of Job Week! We appreciate all your efforts in trying to reach the magically number of $365 per scout. We did not reached our Twenty Thousand Dollars group target this year. However, we did better than 2007.

Do spend your time wisely over the weekend. Complete all your March Hoildays assignments and DO NOT USE Scout Job Week as an excuse for not handling up your Holiday assignments on time when the new term starts next Monday.

* Those who are following James Wong as companions for his CCA Exploration Test (14 to 15 Mar) and Xiu Qi/Sean for their First Class Hike (15 to 16 Mar) pls make sure you prepare yourself well for these hike.

Job Week (8 to 11 Mar 2008)
pls meet at the scout den at 2.30pm this Thurs to collect your Job Week cards.
if you cannot make it on Thurs, do collect the cards on Friday at 1.30pm.

all scouts are to meet at the scout den this Sat, 8am before setting off for Job Week. Your respective sec 4s patrol leaders will take charge of you in the absence of the sec 3s. You are required to perform 4 days of Job Week (8 to 11 Mar) from 9am to 6 pm. Return to the the scout den every day to submit your daily earnings. DO NOT ask your friends to do the submission on your behalf. If you cannot be back in the evening, submit the earnings on the next morning.

Energy Conservation Course

Fall in outside the Scout Den by 7.30am this Sat (1 Mar). Bus will leave for Sarimbun at 7.40am. Do not be late.
Attire - VS School PE Attire (for sec 1s to 3s), Sec 4 - PLTC Black with VS Shorts.
You are allowed to bring any bags (except trolley bags!)
You will be dismissed from VS on 2 Mar (Sunday) latest 1230pm.

ENERGY EXPERIENCE / (Conservation) COURSE

All Sec 1 Scouts and Fawwaz,

you have to attend the following compulsory course.

Course Name - ENERGY EXPERIENCE COURSE (Stage 1)

You are to meet immediately after a quick lunch at the Scout Den @2pm on both days to go as a group via public transport.

You will go home from the course venue on both days.

2. Bring along $18.50 this Sat to pay for your (Group Polo Tee & Group Roundneck Tee at a subsidized cost of $16 and $2.50 for your Uniform name tag).

4. You are reminded that the Energy Conservation Programme (your 1st Prof Badge) will be held on the 29 Feb and 7 Mar from 3pm to 5 pm at Singapore Power Building near Somerset MRT. Attendance is compulsory.

South East Area Scout Rally (23 Feb 08)

Dear all,

pls adhere the following instructions with regards to this Sat Scout Activities.
1. Attendance is compulsory for all scouts.

2. Fall-in in the below prescribe attire by 7.15am this Sat 23 Feb 08. The charter bus to Fort Road end (Gathering point for the rally) will depart at 7.20am. Do be early this Sat.

3. Attire for sec 1 - VS PE Attire and sports shoes. DO NOT WEAR YOUR SCOUT PANTS. All sec 2 to 4 Scouts will wear FULL Scout Uniform (black canvas shoe. No Boots)

4. You need to bring along an extra set of PE Attire. Bring along a small bottle of water. There will be "Mixed Groups" activities for the 2 districts in the Area. Do participate actively.

5. Carry ONLY a haversack. STRICTLY NO SLING BAGS. We will be hiking from FORT RD till the meet up point of the Rally.

6. After the event, we will take public transport back to VS from the Rally area (East Coast Park at field next to the CAGE football). You will be dismissed from VS after preparation for Investiture at 2pm.

7. If you have queries, pls ask your respective Patrol Leaders.

Scout Meeting on the 16 Feb 08

Dear all,

Reminders for sec 1s Scouts,

1. Bring your purchased Scout Uniform (scarf, woggle, belt, beret, beret badge etc except the shoes). DO NOT WEAR THEM this sat.

2. Submit your Uniform receipt if you have not done so.

3. The last 2 tests on Knowledge of Arrow Scout Group and Knowledge of Singapore Scouting will be held after meeting time. DO study for the 2 tests. It will not be simple tests.

4. ALL those who have missed certain lectures (due to absence from meeting) are to stay behing this Sat after dismissal for lectures makeup with the Scout Leader.

Sec 1 Purchase of Scout Uniform

Dear Sec 1s,

Fall in outside the den at 2.45pm after school on Tuesday 12 Feb 2008. Do take your lunch before fall in. Sec 4 i/c - ATL Lim Shu Liang

Bring $90 cash for the whole set of Scout Uniform (unless you have NETS).
You will be going to Scout Shop @ Scout HQ at Bishan Street 12 by SBS Bus. There is likely a crowd on the 12 Feb hence expect to leave the Scout Shop not earlier than 5pm.

DO HELP to remind your fellow classmates who are Scouts about this arrangement.
