Crime Prevention Badge Course Requirements

Dear all,

Submission date for Poster is 25 Oct and Log Book is 13 Nov.

The assignments are:
1. Scrap book containing 10 newspaper articles on crime.
You are supposed to comment on how this crime could have been prevented (a short paragraph (min 50 words).

The 10 articles should be of the following categories :
a. housebreaking or shop breaking
b. robbery in Lifts/Streets
c. Snatch Theft
d. Motor Vehicle Theft
e. Outrage of Modesty
f. Handphone Theft
g. Cyber Crime or ATM related Crimeh. any articles related to elderly or any person cheated by "magic stone", or "con man".
i. any other crime not listed in the above.

You are allowed a max of 2 articles from the same category. There should be at least 8 original newspaper articles. The rest can be articles from the Internet or Library Archives. ALL articles must be Crimes that happened in Singapore.

You can decorate you Scrap book with phamplets collected from the Crime Prevention Exhibition room. The Scrap book need not be type written. However, you need to write legibly. Don't forget to include a Content Page.

2. Poster to be drawn on a A3 drawing block.
You can only use poster color or crayon. No "Color Pencil" allowed.
- you can draw anything related to crime prevention. Include a simple caption or message.

The best 3 Scrapbooks and best 3 Posters will be rewarded with a small prize.

** The written test will be held on the 13 Nov.

Investiture Night 2010 Instructions

Dear all,

(A) Personal Gear List

You are advised to bring along the following –
1. Have an early Lunch for this Sat before “Fall in”.
2. Enough money for this Sat’s Dinner.
3. 2x Sets of school based T-Shirts, shorts and underwear.
4. 1x Towel
5. 1x Toiletries set consisting of shower foam, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, powder etc.
6. 1x Slipper
7. 1x Air Pillow (Optional) and Sleeping Bag (Optional)
8. Full set of Scout Uniform (Beret, Scarf, Woggle, Shirt, Pants, Belt, Socks, Black Shoes)

9. Consent form if you have not submitted.

A letter signed by your parent if you need to be excused from Job Week (13 to 16 Mar 2010) for a valid reason. An example of valid reason is: Going overseas during the same period (must show proof). Tuition classes are NOT VALID reason for excuse. Job Week is compulsory for all Scouts.

Any other things you deemed necessary for the overnight stay in school.

(B) Admin Instructions

1. You are to fall-in at the Scout Den in School PT attire by 11.45am, this Sat. Bring along your Uniform (well iron) on a hanger. Sec 1s and 2s without name tags are to label their Uniform accordingly.

2. You are to advise your Parents (sec 1s and 3s) to come by 7.45pm. Gather at the school canteen for ushers to bring them to the Amphitheatre accordingly.

3. Do advise your parents that the event will end a little over 10pm.
4. The attire for Parents is Smart Casual.

Important Reminders for Founder's Day (22 Feb)

Dear all (including Sec 1s)

as instructed today, you are reminded to Report to the Scout Den this Monday 22 Feb 2010 at 7.10am in your FULL Scout Uniform. Sec 1s will wear their VS Uniform with school tie as usual.

We will have a simple ceremony to mark the Founder's Day at the Indoor Sports Hall (1st Level). The programme is as follow.

0710 - Scouts to fall in at the Scout Den in Full Scout Uniform. PLs to have a quick check on their boys Uniform.
0715 - Scouts to assemble at Indoor Sports Hall (1st Level) in horseshoe.
0720- Founder's Day message will be read.
0725 - Scouts are dismissed to return to their respective classes for morning assembly.

1. Pls ensure that you wear a proper CLEAN BLACK canvas shoe or well polished drill boots. No white shoes are allowed. This rule does not apply to sec 1s.

2. You WILL NOT REMOVE your scarf during your CA written paper. The scarf is part of your Scout Uniform unlike the school tie.

3. Be smart at ALL TIMES in your Scout Uniform esp. the scarfs and tucking in of the shirt.
4. Do make sure you put on YOUR BEST behaviour during lessons this Monday. Remember, everyone will be observing to see what kind of Scout you are. I do not want to hear complains from your subject teachers.

5. For classes having PE lesson on Monday, you MUST change back into your Scout Uniform after PE.

6. You MUST wear the Scout Uniform from home and when going home.

7. Sec 4 ESP Students will be allowed to wear Roundneck black with Scout pants for ESP lessons.

PLs, you are expected to call your Patrol Members PERSONALLY to remind them about Founder's Day.

All those who forget to wear their Scout Uniform for whatever reasons will serve 5 hrs detention this week.

Suspension of school activities from 22 to 28 June 09

Dear all,

VS will suspend all school activities from 22 to 28 June 09 in view of the current H1N1 situation in Singapore. Hence we will not have scout meeting on the 27 June 09 (this Sat). The next Scout Meeting will be advised shortly.

Scout National Resilience Course on 20 June 09

Dear all,

there will be NO SCOUT MEETING THIS SAT (20 Jun). Have a well deserve rest after the 3 days hectic Group Camp! The next meeting is likely on the 27 June.

The following sec 2s and 3s have been selected to attend the 1st Scout National Resilience Course. You are to report to Scout HQ in Full Scout Uniform this Sat 20 June by 7.45am. Be punctual to catch the chartered bus to Singapore Discovery Centre.

No Scout Meeting on 13 June 2009

Dear all,

you are reminded that there will be NO SCOUT MEETIING THIS SAT 13 June 2009. The Sec 3s will be away for 1 Star Kayaking Course at Changi.

The June non residential camp is confirmed on the 16 to 18 June 09. Reporting time each day is 0800 h.

Look out for details of the camp in this blog.

Reminder - those who have not collected the DDT pls do so on the 1st day of camp.

CCA Photo taking

Dear all,

CCA photo taking for SCOUTS is this Thursday, 30 April 2009 at 4pm.

All sec 1 to 4 SCOUTS are to be present for the photo taking.

Be in your full uniform (without beret) and fall in at the DEN at 4 pm sharp in Scout Uniform.

Attendance is compulsory.

Ubin Cycling this Sat 11 Apr 09

Dear all,

some reminders.....
1. meet at Changi Point Ferry Terminal (next to Changi Village Hawker Centre) at 8.15 am
2. Attire - Sec 4 - PLTC Black Tees, Sec 3 - White Roundneck, Sec 2 & 1s - VS PE Tees. For Shorts - anything is fine.
3. Footwear - ONLY SHOES allowed.
4. Bring along a set of Clothing for change after the Cycling.

5. Bring the following -
a. Rain gear (Poncho or Raincoat)
b. Only Haversack allowed. No sling bag.
c. Enough $ for your ferry fare ($5 for 2-way) and drinks
d. Bring along a simple lunch - can be sandwiches, buns or a simple meal purchased from Changi Village.
e. insect repellent (if needed)
f. Water Bottle (at least 1 litres of water)
g. Dismissal time is at 6.30pm from Changi Village.

For those who have not handed up the consent form are to do so to Guo Qiang first thing at the Changi Ferry Terminal.

A copy of the consent form has been emailed to you.
