Arrow Scout Group 69th Campfire

Dear all,

It's confirmed. The date for our 69th Campfire has been fixed on the 1 Sep 2007 (1st Sat of Sep School Holidays). All invitation letters have been posted to Scout Groups and Guides Comapany today.

This will be likely the last Scout Meeting before SA2 Exams.

Pls note the date and plan your schedule accordingly.

Dear all,

There will be NO SCOUT MEETING this Sat (14 Jul 2007).
All those who are involved in Speech Day Parade are to note the following:
1. Fall in at 1pm on Sat.

Scout Meeting on the 7 Jul 07

Dear all,

the meeting outline is refered for your reference.

All those who signed up for the Chung Cheng Scouts Campfire this Sat are to report back to school in Scout Uniform by 4.45pm.

Crime Prevention Course

There are still some of you who have not submitted the CP assignments (Anand, Zen, Herman). The deadline will be extended till this Sat 8am. The written test will be held at 2pm this Sat. You are to study all materials gathered from the Crime Prevention Exhibition and the "blue" CP book.

Scouts' Boots

Dear all (sec 1s to 3s)

The price for the boots is $28. The Scout Group will subsidise $10 per Scout with condition. Scouts who receive the subsidy MUST remain with the Scout Group until the end of next year with above 75% atttendance. If this condition is not met by the end of next year, the Scout will refund the $10 subsidy to the Scout Group.

All Scouts are to make payment of $18 to PL Lim Shu Liang tomorrow (30 Jun).

you are reminded that this Sat Scout Meeting is for Public Sales of Donation Draw Tickets. You will go out as a Patrol to HDB homes to sell your Donation Draw Tickets.

Scout Meeting on 9 Jun 07

Dear all,

the programme is attached for your reference.

Camp preparation will be carried out after lunch. All to attend.

Reminders :

1. Civil Defence course is on the 7th June. Meet Changda at Yishun MRT Control Station at 7.45am. Full Uniform. Bring T-shirt. (All sec 1s and some sec 2s)

2. SANA Anti Drug Course is on the 8th June. Meet Fabian at Sengakang MRT Control Station at 8am. Full Uniform. (All sec 2s)

3. Those who have not pay the $4 subsidise course fee for SANA course are to do so this Sat without fail.

4. Camp Consent form (even if you have valid reasons for not attending) must be submitted by this Sat together with the $10 Camp fees.

SSA Donation Draw Deadlines and Collection Dates
The deadline for the Scout Group to return to HQ is 11 Aug. BUT we will be returning on the 4 Aug in view of our tentative Campfire on the 11 Aug.

As such, there will be 3 collection day.
First : 23 Jun 2007, Sat - immediately after the designated Donation Draw Sales Day.
Second : 21 Jul 2007, Sat
Last / Group Deadline : 28 Jul 2007, Sat

All distributed DD Tickets are expected to be sold. Do not burden your parents. You are expected to complete at least 15 tickets before the 23 Jun Sales Day. The remaining to be sold during the 23 Jun Sales Day.

Squirrel Award - a Total of 70 tickets to qualify. (same as last year)

see below instructions from HQ with regards to the Civil Defence Course........
Just a reminder that your Scouts are enrolled for the upcoming March intakes for the Civil Defence courses. Enclosed below are some general instructions from SCDF for your Scouts to adhere to. Your Scouts are reminded to be in full uniform and in their best behavior for the course. Writing materials are to be brought along. Any misbehavior for any attending Scout will result in immediate disqualification for the course (non- refundable). Do remind the Scouts to be present at least 15 minutes earlier before the start time so as to assist in kicking off the course on time.
1) Nearest MRT station is Yishun. Bus servicing the area are 169, 811
2) The name of the conducting officer is LTA Ridwan.
3) The course starts at 0830 hrs and will end at around 1300 hrs (depending on the size of the participants). There will be a tea-break at around 1000 hrs and if the course should stretch to 1400 hrs, then lunch will be at 1230 hrs. SCDF do "not" provide meals and participants can consume their meals at the nearby coffee shops just across the road at their own expense.
4) Participants are required to bring along their own writing materials and note books.
5) Participants are also advised "not" to bring along expensive belongings e.g. walkman, discman, digital/video cameras or MP3 players as the camp will not be held responsible if they are lost through negligence though we take every precaution possible to ensure the safety and security of the participants' belongings

refer to the meeting outline for this Sat Scout Meeting.

The Scout Standard Tests (First Aid) and The Advanced Standard (Outdoor Precautions) will be held next week (2 Jun 07) together with this Sat Lecture.

The Civil Defence Course will be held on the 7th May. The Course Fee of $3 will be fully paid by the Scout Group. All Sec 1s (less Timothy), Avester, Jason, Calten, Nicholas andFawwaz are to attend this course. More details on the venue and reporting time on Monday.

The SANA Anti Drug Course will be held on the 8th May. ALL Sec 2s (less Jacky) are to attend this course. Go the the SANA Website to do a pre course registration. You must do so before the course for attendance recording purposes.

The SANA Course Fee is $8. You need to pay $4 to PL Lim Shu Liang this Sat. The Scout Group will subsidise the rest. ALL absentees for both the course will pay 100% of the course fee.

Crime Prevention Course Assignments

Dear sec 1s and Herman, Fawwaz

The deadline for submitting the 2 Crime PRevention Assignments is 23 June, Sat 9am.

The assignments are :

1. Scrap book containing 10 newspaper articles on crime. You are supposed to comment on how this crime could have been prevented (a short paragraph (min 50 words).

The 10 articles should be of the following categories :
a. housebreaking or shop breaking
b. robbery in Lifts/Streets
c. Snatch Theft
d. Motor Vehicle Theft
e. Outrage of Modesty
f. Handphone Theft
g. Cyber Crime or ATM related Crime
h. any articles related to elderly or any person cheated by "magic stone", or "con man".
i. any other crime not listed in the above.

You are allowed a max of 2 articles from the same category. There should be at least 5 original newspaper articles. The rest can be articles from the Internet or Library Archives. ALL articles must be Crimes that happened in Singapore.

You can decorate you Scrap book with phamplets collected from the Crime Prevention Exhibition room. The Scrap book need not be type written. However, you need to write legibly. Don't forget to include a Content Page.

2. Poster.- to be drawn on a A3 drawing block. You can only use poster color or crayon. No "Color Pencil" allowed. - you can draw anything related to crime prevention. Include a simple caption or message.

The best 3 Scrapbooks and best 3 Posters will be rewarded with a small prize.

** The written test will be held on the 1st Sat of July.

Welcome back to Scouting! This Sat will be our first Scout Meeting after SA1. Starting this Sat, your Sec 3 Patrol Leaders will take over the planning and running of the Scout Group.

Refer to the meeting outline attached for details. Attendance is compulsory and all sec 2s attending the IP Tests at VJC will be excused from the Scout meeting. You are expected to rejoin the meeting if the tests end earlier than the Meeting Dismissal Time.
